Weird Rock I Found

I found this rock at the edge of the woods while I was mowing. It appears to be quartz. The most unusual thing about it is the 4 sided, tapered hole passing through it. The residue in the hole is not magnetic but looks like iron oxide. If you have any ideas, please contact me via weirdrock at ourwoods dot com.
